I expect consultation with First Nations is an ongoing process, as plans solidify. Can't be as simple as a single meeting laying out plans and getting feedback, then modifying details, when something as complex as a railway is involved.

KWG has consulted F.N.s at earlier stages, during exploration and I'm sure during planning leading to this point.

In this case it is much more than simply a transport corridor, because to be viable there must also be cargo available, which in turn means mines and processing plants. Quite a few tangled balls of twine there, with Environmental Assessments, employment possibilities, revenue sharing (equity/ownership?), opportunities for local contractors for everything from supplying cement & other logistics, service roads alongside the rails, implications of many workers in the area, and so on.
