Scroll down to "Budget Plan" for the entire budget document. Go to page 217 to 218 under the heading "Unlocking Rare Earth Elements and Chromite Production" for relevant (and quite interesting...from the Fed perspective) info on chromite and its importance to Canada.
At the bottom it says:"Funding will also support the development of efficient and green processing technologies to reduce the environmental impacts of chromite production".
The natural gas process for chromite conversion developed by KWG is a lot more efficient than the conventional electric arc furnace technologies, hence this innovation would reduce significantly the impacts on the environment.
Presumably, Frank has explained all this to Minister Greg Rickford (Nat Res and FedNor) for part of the $23M.
