If these groups are still opposed to transmission lines (Note: the footprint of a high voltage, say 230 kV, tower is not that large and localized) for fear of negative impacts onWoodland caribou, then roads would have a hard time to get accepted. Roads have been viewed (alleged) as physical obstruction to the herd, and according to the caribou crowd, the caribou would stay far away from the roads. There are many sucessful examples showing overpasses, underpasses for caribou and other animal to cross over to the other side. Yes, caribou has been photographed to cross the roads in broad daylight. Just Google and look under Image.

These group should talk to Chief Yesno, who has discussed the need for FN folks to participate in modern economy/life. The days of living off the lands, hunting for animals, and fur trade are getting more and more difficult.
