Excellent response Laura and very informative I wonder if the minister or someone from the MNR even monitors sites such as these, because if he does, he would find plenty of good information that he could pick from. He's quoted as saying by Chris Dawson in the article
"I'm always looking for good, strong advice, related to the Ring of Fire" but the real question is does he Listen and from whom does he acknowledge or welcome this strong advice from .... The liberals said they would build the infrastructure with or without the Feds... well we're still waiting... mind you in all fairness to the present reigning liberals I don't believe Wynne or Gravelle said what century they would commencing building... I guess I was sucked into embracing their election promise and assumed they would've taken the bull by the horns and at least started surveying and laying the ground work for the construction phase to begin. What is the hold up
Back in the 1800's, Sir John A. MacDonald and his gov't had a vision for Canada "His National Dream," and that was to link Eastern Canada to the West by rail. Over 3200 km of track was layed with the help of over 30,000 workers and this dream of creating a Trans Canada Railway was accomlished within a period of 4 1/2 years . (not including surveying which took approx. 10 years to complete)
Maybe if all politicians viewed the ROF through the eyes of Sir John A. and truly saw it as a national Dream we would be further ahead for we would all be working together with the same 3 goals in mind, for the betterment of our nation, developing our natural resources and creating well paying jobs. We only require 350 km of rail pipe or road to link the Northern region of the James Bay lowlands to Nakina, in order to develop the RoF and start mining...yet 8 years have passed since the discovery of Chromite in the ROF and still no infrastructure in place.. is there even a remote plan in place ? Surely to goodness there have been many excellent ideas floating around as to how we can extract and transport the chromite to market... the NS railine is one, the othervas you mentioned Laura is a NS slurry pipeline with a service road to access the FN communities and to service the pipe line... We've had plenty of time to get it right, it's now, time for action, time to get it done.
