Message: EA Submission

The first document,

NB102-390/1-18
Rev B

containing the technical details of the mine site, transportation route and the transload facility are contained in this report, right after the Exec Summary. A first skim through seems to indicate that the emphasis of this report (and other reports in the same suite) is to support the proposed the underground facility to extract the Ni ore, process it onsite and transport the concentrate to the market. All transport elements (including the short rail connection from Savant Lake transload to the existing railline) are geared for the EW side (not the NS corridor). Note: Savant Lake is about 100km south of Pickle Lake and 250km west of Nakina.

The emphasis is understandable since EA is a major undertaking and the company (NOT) would want to limit the scope of the assessent. I would tend to agree with this strategy, since you don't want "to bite more than you can chew". Given the current situation, they want to put emphasis on the EW corridor (apparently Frank's concurrence). At least, get this link to the outside world done first to satisfy the need for transporting the stuff and equipment up to the RoF to build their Ni (and precious metal) mine. KWG and other companies can make good use of this corridor to do the same. More importantly, this EW corridor is wanted by the local FN communities, so that would minimize intervention?

Initially, to get the cash flow from Ni and PMG from the mine NOT wants this option to get the goods out, even if it would be expensive (than rail using the NS corridor) to do so. But, Ni concentrates are "more manageable" than Chromite ore as bulk material, hence the traffic of trucks carring Ni concentrate out would be less.

Later, they may want to switch to rail (NS corridor) for lower transportation cost, especially when they are ready to extract the chromite (BB along with BH).

But, that is another story, another EA submission which can be built on this submission. Frank can perhaps get this going?

Just my initial impression, folks.
