- RR was mentioned as part of the transportation scheme (road/rail)...Quote: "The province wants the federal government to help pay for infrastructure, including a road or rail line, to develop the Ring of Fire, an area 500 kilometres north of Thunder Bay..." My guess is that the Prov will fund the NS service road (for service trucks and passenger cars, not private road for monster trucks) along the RR which would have some funding from the Fed (e.g. the 3P granting scheme). The Province might even consider funding part of the EW road to get the equipment/supplies up to the RoF (for an early start of construction of the mines, and for an option to build the RR from both ends). The EW is easier to build and would cost less than the NS service road.
The Prov and the Fed have not been specific, but when they say "road" this could mean "railroad" as well, at least in my optimistic interpretation.
- Wynne indicated flexibility on the shaping up of the corporation development (province did not inform the Fed before announcing it, and this ticked off Rickford... who now seems to be in a in better mood after hearing the Prov flexibility). Any chance for this (Prov) Devel Corp to morph into a (Fed) Port Authority?
