Black Horse deposit has an Inferred Resource Now 85.9 Million Tonnes @ 34.5%
Of late the environmentalists have been voicing their conerns and I honestly believe that the best way to appease the environmentalists and to address the FN environmental concerns about the disruption that mining would have upon the fragile eco system within the lower james Bay lowlands would be to prohibit any and all mining operations above the water table, thus eliminating any possible contamination to the water of which is a source of nourishment for all wildlife, aquatic life, birds and people within the region. By insisting that all mining takes place below the water table would also eliminate all open pit mining within the ROF. ( I would venture to say that Cliffs would probably not agree, with what I am proposing seeing that this is the type of operation that they would like to implement at Black Thor) Open pit mining changes the landscape forever and leaves a massive footprint on the planet whereas underground mining does not even come close to affecting the surface area that an open pit operation would. By prohibiting any open pit mining operation from existing within this Northern region, would show that the gov't on both the provincial and federal levels are equally concerned about the environment and the well being of the FN people who will be directly or indirectly effected by this development. The Gov't has stated they want "to get this Right" well step one would be to look at what type of mining operation would be less detrimental on the envronment, the wildlife, the eco system, the people... step two would be to determine what type of infrastructure would have the least effect on the envronment, the wildlife, the eco system, the people... answer is Rail itis also the most cost effective way of moving the chromite ore to market...
