The problem with the recent railplan is that it comes from a Union. The Conservatives and Harper do not like Unions, and do not work with them, regardless of any merit there might be in any proposal they bring forward, in my opinion. They are more likely to side with big business or 'private enterprise' as they would term it, in any conflict of interests. In other words, the Federal govt is more likely to do what they can to assist CLFs interests against an alternative backed by a Union, if they have a choice.

If the ruling about an easement for a road comes against CLF, the rail proposal will fly, and must receive backing from various levels of govt. however. Fortunately the backing for CLF's plan has been from the provincial govt, the Liberals, so far, so no backpedalling by the feds will be needed.

I expect there will be an iceroad this winter into the ROF, but likely by the East-West route, blockades permitting, of course.
