Flyby,

This is a good start for the N-S corridor. Marten Falls FN seems to be the most prominemt for this corridor. The E-W proposal by NOT already got the support of several FNs on the west side covering Webequie to Pickle Lake. Even though NOT is looking at the N-S route as an option (perhaps for the longer term) the E-W route is not dead, since there are short term advantage for NOT and the government interest in providing road link to the northern communities.

With respect to Marten Falls, the current proposal for N-S corridor does not go through Marten Falls itself (the N-S esker strip is to the west of it), but on the negotiation table (with the government) a Marten Falls "exit and entrance" ramps could be included to the main road/RR. A spur RR to Marten Falls could be added if there is a need for it. A shortline RR operated by the FN mainly for bulky supplies and tourists, including their canoes, to the region should please Chief Moonias. There would be many collateral jobs for the local folks, besides hunting fishing and canoeing/skiing/snow shoeing/(skidooing?) operation.
