I acknowledge and agree with the previous comments made on this string, but I would like to highlight a fact that seems even more important to the grander skeem of things. To bring in the perspective and the active participation of the FN Chiefs is not only a very savy political move but it also is the right one when it comes to the ethical evolution of the whole development of this region.
IMO I think it serves three purposes for the sake of this point...1. it treats the First Nations with respect and the dignity that has long been owed to them, 2. it provides KWG with the insightful knowledge from those who know the land, 3. it tells the rest of the world that if the Federal gov is willing to respect and protect resources under the Canadian flag and jurisdiction, (BHP attemtp to take-over Potash Corp) then it should also do so for its' native populations given that they were the first to occupy the territory.
Additionally, I think we all would agree that it makes total sense from a business perpective, to bring all stakeholders to that table, not only for their respective inputs but also for their buy-in, especially those to whom we attribute high visibility with respect to the Canadian political scene as well as functionality when the regional expertise and workforce will be required. Planning and discussions will be intense but the fact that they will be conducted under a priviledged platform that includes the FN, will probably be most beneficial and profitable for all.
Best of luck to all in your 2011 ventures
