Rail is without a doubt the way of the future. The Sudbury basin is a prime example of a sector that would greatly benefit from expanded rail lines locally and nationally. Every single pound of ore and concentrate that is currently being produced locally and externally, is hauled by truck. Millions are being spent on road repair while millions of pounds are being hauled by truck tarriff free. Vale Inco has the only rail service to the mines which are now on strike. Truck traffic is getting ridiculous. Ask anyone living along the truck routes. Political pressure from all levels of Government is long overdue.
