These reductions include 261 staff jobs in Sudbury so far. The contract expires in May so it is likely that they will be very tough negotiations and possibly a strike.

This brings to 3450 the number of mining related job cuts in Sudbury since last fall.

There is rampant speculation of a shutdown and hourly rate layoffs to follow at Vale Inco.
