James Darcel always talked about the whole region ( Shaw Dome) being a likely takeover target. I would think that the combined synergies of the local properties would add greater value to a major looking to secure future ores. It would seem you have to do your drilling and exploring now to prepare fro the future production demand and the possible mine life and depletion of ore being mined now.
Looking down the road and securing these resources now would be prudent for the big players especially those who talk about increased production going forward.
Xstrata comes to mind with Montcalm being shelved. they can also put Labor concerns behind them as they have settled a 3 yr contract
IMHO
