TORONTO (Reuters) - Corriente Resources (CTQ.TO:
Quote) said on Friday that Ecuador's government assured it and other miners operating in the Andean country that they would not lose assets, despite a government decree issued last week that revokes hundreds of concessions.
"What we were told in the meeting (is that) no one in that room was going to be losing their assets," the Canadian firm's senior vice president, Dan Carriere, told Reuters.
Earlier on Friday, Corriente, as well as Iamgold Corp (IMG.TO: Quote), Aurelian Resources (ARU.TO: Quote) and Dynasty Metals & Mining DMM.TO, issued statements saying that together, they had met with Ecuador's president and other members of the government on Thursday. The statements did not mention government assurances on assets.
