UPDATE 1-HudBay names new president and CEO

* David Garofalo to assume posts effective July 12

* Garofalo to replace interim CEO Warren Holmes

TORONTO, June 21 (Reuters) - HudBay Minerals (HBM.TO: Quote, Profile, Research,Stock Buzz) said on Monday it named David Garofalo as president and chief executive officer, effective July 12.

Garofalo, who most recently served as chief financial officer with Agnico-Eagle Mines Limited, has also been named as a member of HudBay's board.

Garofalo is replacing Warren Holmes, who acted as interim CEO following the retirement of its former head Peter Jones late last year.

Toronto-based HudBay is a base metal miner in North and Central America. (Reporting by Euan Rocha; Editing by Derek Caney)
