DP World Chairman and CEO Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem landed in Prince Rupert on Wednesday to discuss the company's expansion plans for the Port of Prince Rupert.

The Northern View has learned that Bin Sulayem met not only with Prince Rupert Port Authority officials but also Metlakatla and, reportedly, Lax Kw'alaams officials.

"I can confirm that Metlakatla Chief Harold Leighton met with DP World Chairman and CEO Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem in Prince Rupert yesterday, June 8. During the meeting, the Sultan outlined DP World operations both around the world and in Prince Rupert as it relates to Fairview Terminal and potential expansion," Shaun Thomas, communications coordinator for the Metlakatla First Nation, said.

Requests for comment by the Prince Rupert Port Authority were not immediately returned.
