making money is the only reason for investing,weather you short trade,day trade or buy and hold long positions.
  Most of todays trading is being done by algorithmic traders with the aid of machine learning,they have no regard for anything except 'making money',and they have a lot of money to work with.traders can still make a little money flipping shares ,but once a algo zeros in on the stock it's pretty well game over for the retail old fashion traders.
 algo don't accumulate shares they don't care what the price is,(as long as it fluctuates)and they don't care if the company succeeds or fails,
  as for the FUD I believe that some of them are  algo trading,and spreading thier fud to change sentiment in favour of the algo.
