HPQ Secures Third-Fumed Silica NDA, as Interest in Testing of Its Commercial-Grade Silica Material Continues to Grow
In the bustling realm of green engineering processes, HPQ Silicon Inc. stands as a beacon of innovation and promise. The company, listed on the TSX-V as HPQ, on the OTCQB as HPQFF, and on the FRA as O08, is making significant strides in silica and silicon material production, and its recent developments are a testament to its unwavering commitment to excellence.
HPQ, along with its subsidiary, HPQ Silica Polvere Inc. (HPQ Polvere), and technology provider PyroGenesis Canada Inc., has recently inked its third Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) in the year 2023. This NDA revolves around the fumed silica industry, where HPQ Polvere’s proprietary Fumed Silica Reactor ("FSR") technology is gaining remarkable interest.
The interest in HPQ's fumed silica material has led to multiple requests for samples under these NDAs, demonstrating the industry's eagerness to explore its potential. Mr. Bernard Tourillon, the President and CEO of HPQ Silica Polvere Inc. and HPQ Silicon Inc., expressed optimism, highlighting the possibility of future commercial partnerships, including large-scale offtake agreements and technology adoption.
The journey of HPQ's Fumed Silica Initiative began with lab demonstrations and is now progressing towards pilot-scale and, ultimately, commercial-scale production. The FSR Pilot Plant's assembly is scheduled for completion in Q1-Q2 2024, followed by scalability validation in Q2-Q3 2024. Once scalability is confirmed, HPQ Polvere aims to commence commercial production with an initial capacity of about 50 tonnes per year.
What makes HPQ Polvere's Fumed Silica Reactor truly exceptional is its ability to produce fumed silica directly from raw quartz (SiO2) with minimal energy requirements, as low as 15,000 kWh per tonne. In contrast, conventional methods rely on Silicon Metal (Si) with substantially higher energy consumption and emissions.
Furthermore, HPQ's innovative approach could potentially extend to other Specialty Silica Materials, potentially tripling its addressable market. With the Specialty Silica Market projected to grow to $13.4 billion by 2030, HPQ Silicon Inc. is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of this industry, fostering both sustainability and efficiency.
As the commercial potential of HPQ's revolutionary process gains momentum, the industry can expect a transformation that benefits not only the company but also the essential industries relying on these groundbreaking materials. HPQ Silicon Inc.'s journey of innovation continues to captivate the industry's imagination.
