It is expected that at least 15,000 metres of diamond drilling will be drilled along the 2.5-kilometre band of gold mineralization to explore open pit potential, previously outlined by Cyprus and Placer Dome.
Goldstone owns 100% interest in the Key Lakepatented claims and mining leases totalling 1,339 acres located in Lindsey Twp; Geraldton Ontario. The Key Lake property is located 12km west of Geraldton and adjoins the Hardrock Project.
The Hardrock Joint Venture Project (Premier Gold 70% and Goldstone 30%) has announced impressive open-pit and underground results.More results are expected soon. The Hardrock Joint Venture expects to complete more than 70,000 metres of drilling in 2010 followed by a revised resource report for both open pit and underground zones.
In 1937 a 536’ shaft was sunk on the property and over two years, three underground levels drifting 6,475 feet were completed. Mining records indicate surface diamond drilling of 17,408’ and underground drilling 17,210’ occurred between 1934–‘40. During 1939-1940, total metals produced indicated an average recovery of 0.38 oz. Au and 0.05 oz. Ag per ton. The mine closed in 1940 (WWII). No work had been reported on the property until Placer Dome in the 1980’s.
Gold was US $300 in 1997 when Cyprus Canada Inc. drilled 13 holes / 2,270 metres to determine the possibility of developing an open pit gold mine in the Geraldton area. Five holes intersected visible gold. The Cyprus drilling program added to and confirmed the gold mineralization previously inferred, including the 87 Placer Dome drill holes.
