The following is a clip from a Fording Canadian Coal Trust NR on May 8. It looks like coal settlement prices have tripled from the 2007 contract prices to 2008 prices. With oil pushing through $130, coal will go even higher.

Fording Canadian Coal Trust (TSX:FDG.UN) (NYSE:FDG) today announced that Elk Valley Coal has completed negotiations for approximately 90% of its anticipated coal sales for the 2008 coal year. If the remainder of the 2008 contracts are settled on similar terms, the average price for the 2008 coal year (April 1, 2008 - March 31, 2009) is forecast to be approximately US$275 per tonne for all coal products, compared with an average price of US$93 for the 2007 coal year.
