Some interesting trading today; we saw some nice upward buying pressure come into the market today, only to be hit by someone clearing out their paper (about 36,00 shares +/-); fortunately, we also saw a recovery with some decent volume to close out the day (and the week).
There were some unusual trading patterns surface this week as well, with some obvious sales intended to force a gap down in SP. Over the course of the week there were multiple VERY small trades (100 to 500 shares) made "on the offer" when the general trading was at higher levels. The impact this had was to cause the buying that was in the market to step back somewhat and let the selling come to it.
I can't comment on the motivation behind today's larger sale, as I do not know who the seller was, but I can tell you that they likely sold for a fair bit less than was necessary, given the uptick in volume and price points we were seeing today. We then saw a few of the small (100-500 share) offers return and get taken out, as it only took a few thousand shares to get cleared out to move back from the bottom of the selling to a positive close.
Have a great weekend, we'll see what next week brings.
Salut,
