On November 30 the IMF Board will take it's decision on inclusion of the Yuan in the SDR basket of currencies, which would become effective by October 2016. The article below describes what the effect will be on the use of Yuan as a "freely usable currency" worldwide.

I believe that the timing of the Forex Industry Conference in Shanghai on December 8th is no coincidence. It takes place one week after the decision on the inclusion of the yuan in the SDR basket. Checking once more the Agenda of the Conference, I noticed that the Agenda has slightly changed since early november and that the topic on gold trading has been broadened. "New way for trading gold" has been replaced by: New Products, New Perspectives, Expending and Diversifying Your FX Business.

This makes sense, but I expect that Yuan denominated gold contracts will still have a prominent place in the discussions.
