With a fairly isolated and relatively strong rally in AUMN this morning (752M shares traded in 1.5 hours/ +23 cents with a high of +46 cents), I believe we can conclude one of the following:

1. Some institutional entity has chosen this point to either initiate or add to a position.

2. A "short" entity has chosen this point to begin covering a large short position.

In either case, I suspect that there is a sudden anticipation that AUMN management is about to announce some progress in the asset monetization effort (El Quevar--???), and thus the urgency to accumulate or cover. Otherwise, I doubt there would be such a sudden effort after nearly 45 straight declining days.
