A few minutes ago, AUMN is trading $3.98-3.99 with merely 400 shares offered at 3.99.

Seconds later, 6500 shares are offered at $3.96, driving the stock back down to the present $3.94.

With a recent increase of 140,000 additional shorts over the past two weeks, it is blatantly obvious that "someone" doesn't want any upward momentum to drive AUMN beyond $4/sh. and higher--stating the obvious.
