Questor: North Sea oil tax breaks mean good investment opportunities

Britain will offer new tax breaks to encourage investment in older oil and gas fields in the North Sea.

The tax allowance will shield up to £250m of income from some projects in brown field sites, Chancellor George Osborne said.

That figure rises to £500m for projects in fields paying the petroleum revenue tax.

Questor Editor Garry White says the tax breaks represent a U-turn by the Government, which previously levied extra taxes on the industry.
