I read an article yesterday that Italy and Spain had declared "shorting" illegal in their respective countries. (sorry. Didn't keep it and now I can't find it, but will keep looking)
They were afraid of the negative impact it could have on their internal markets and, together with their fiscal problems, would only add to the overall negativity of their individual situations.
Suggest maybe this is something to lobby for.
Don't forget; "shorting" in North America is sanctioned and therefore not illegal, and it would take forever and many buckets of FIAT, before any legal action would come to fruition, whichever side prevails.
Personnally, I have never condoned shorting. I think it is immoral to be able to trade that which you do not own.
So, as Jean Luc Picard says "Make it so" and most of the shorting controvery goes away.
Good Luck to all!
