To clarify my point: if you walk around your average office, most guys aren't doing anything of value either, and they are in the private sector... I wasn't talking in particular about the guys being paid out of federal funds in make 'work projects', just union workers / unions & efficiency in general.

While I agree that such a use of funds is not efficient... however neither is multi-billion dollar Wall Street bailouts & tax cuts for guys like Buffett. And if I had to choose one to get upset about, a make work project pales in comparison to the bailouts any day of the week.
