Most politicians cannot think "outside the box". They are not really qualified to make any kind of financial decision, especially in the complicated financial world we have become. It's easy to budget, when you know you have unlimited funds, and you will never be in the "red", but reverse that and try and budget when faced with a deficit, and the "perks" of office are threatened.

Too busy and too absorbed in how to retain their seat and all those "perks" that go with it, hence my previous suggestion a few posts ago, of taking away the financial distribution of funds from the politicians, and making them apply to a seperate committee, group etc.

Suggest the "group" be from the private sector, and be changed every alternating two years, so as not to co-incide with political elections. Also, make them accountable!

However, we, the voters, make the biggest mistake, because we allow these "dinosaurs" to get away with all these stupid ideas.
