Message: Silver Still Leads

Another year but the same results as silver still leads commodities. Amazing what decades of suppression can do to performance once the anchor is reduced.

Nice day overall - VHF

Commodity Snapshot

B.I.G.

April 5, 2011

Below is a chart highlighting the year-to-date performance of ten key commodities. As shown, silver is up the most so far in 2011 with a gain of 26.85%. Corn ranks second with a gain of 20.93%, followed by oil (18.29%) and coffee (11.81%). Gold and platinum are both in positive territory for the year but not by much. Gold is up 2.22% YTD while platinum is up 1.36%.

Four of the commodities shown are down year to date. Copper is down the most at -4.04%, followed by wheat (-3.99%) and orange juice (-3.86%). Natural gas, which has easily been the worst performing commodity over the past few years, is down 3.13% YTD, which is at least better than three other commodities. It's a miracle.

Corn is currently the most overbought of the ten commodities shown. Silver, oil, and gold are all at the top of their trading ranges but not quite above them. Gold has recently been struggling to break through resistance and move to new highs, but today it has finally broken through to the upside.
