Interesting. First thing that comes to mind is I can't recall reading anything about the average American being too concerned about floods of illegal immigrants entering from Canada. Rather you'd think the first priority of the US Gov't would be to secure the porous border shared with Mexico than worry about us half-frozen eskimos looking to warm up south of the 49th lol.

Frankly speaking I think the Americans are very impressed with the modernized computer systems we've rolled out over the past 4 years to secure Canadian Borders, including harbours and airspace, and would like to mirror these systems across the States as well.

Unfortunately in the process, we may end up sharing a lot more of our sovereign data with the States than we would prefer. But keep in mind this works both ways and we would also end up with much improved access to American data that is not available today, and that would improve our ability to secure our own borders in the process.
