I know there a lot of guys salivating over these galloping PM prices, including me, but I must admit I'm scratching my head waiting to see what the cartel is going to do about it. I read 50, 100, 500 bucks an ounce coming up. Like the US govt./fed/cartel will allow this?

If they cannot control prices with the usual tactics, then, seems to me, they are bound to try something else, probably draconian. After all, they might say, the US monetary system is at stake.

In bulldozer's earlier post re Jason Hommel, Hommel says "the shorts can cap the price by several other manipulative methods. They can deliver paper cash, or SLV shares as well. The shorts and COMEX can also limit total physical silver deliveries to as little as 1.5 million ounces to any individual, or 7.5 million ounces total, if my memory of the rules serves. If they do that, the shorts can delay a short squeeze at the COMEX."

In addition to that stuff, can the govt./fed pull a Hunt trick nowadays, limiting trading to just sales and no buys until they crater the price? Can they get silver categorized as a strategic metal and contain it that way. A terrorist, national security connection? Raise taxes to the moon on profits. etc.

There certainly is US legislation already on the books that'll allow the US govt./fed to do just about anything they want in this regard, especially if they can tie it to having to stabilize the monetary system. Question is, will they or will they just let silver/gold prices run creating known and unknown casualties and upheavals along the way?

And if the COMEX decides to default or declare a force majeure, then what? Be interesting to see how this would all shake out over time and what effect it will have on my bullion and shares, and yours, to say the least.

Hopefully, way too early to get antsy.
