Hi to all my friends on the board!

I've been away for a while now, I will update you on my activities in canada soon, but first I wanted to share with you my exuberance for what has happened today. My wife's mother and her mother's family is Egyptian and today is the end of a very long and painful road for the people of Egypt.

The sad tragedy for us is that my father-in-law (a truly great and peaceful man) passed away on the 29th of December and missed all of this. He was an avid political junkie, often spending hours debating it with this little white Canadian guy his daughter decided to marry :) He was a true gentleman and scholar in every sense, a man with and Oxford doctorate who had every chance to be enormously rich, but died a poor man (in the monetary sense) after giving away all his money throughout his life to hundreds of his fellow people anonymously... we only found out the true extent of his charity after he died. I consider him the single greatest man I have had the opportunity to meet and our family has been in mourning for the past month.

Both this revolution and the vote to segregate Sudan (he was a Sudanese by birth and was a political refugee from the north as he was a stern opposer of Bashir) would have swelled his heart with pride. He often told me that the most beautiful place in the world was Southern Sudan where he volunteered for two years.

The beautiful thing about today is that the Egyptian people have shown the west that muslims are not violent people, they are peaceful and caring just like we are.
