In order to bring unemployment back to 6%, the US
would need to create immediately 9.5 million new jobs,
and then it would need to create 125,000 new jobs every
single month thereafter just to keep pace with population
growth. This is not going to happen. If the US were to
create 425,000 jobs per month it would take us out past
2020 to bring the unemployment rate down to 6% and
that too is not going to happen. Lop that down to
325,000/month and we are out to 2030 before we reach
6% unemployment, and that means we have to create
that number of jobs every, single month, missing not one
along the way… and that too is not going to happen.
These are not pretty statistics, but they are reality. We
need to get used to it.
