I think there are a couple of other reasons for the deindustrialization.

The free trade agreements have sucked the heart out of the manufacturing sector. Ross Perot was correct."That giant sucking sound you are going to hear is jobs leaving America."

The unrealistic expectations of the American public. We consume 30X the amount of natural resources then the undeveloped world...

The disparity of incomes in the US. The rich and powerful are sacrificing the average US citizen to expand their greed and desire for power...

I would suggest that higher tax rates on the rich (as was the case for most of the history of the US) are how we afford to offer the services a modern country expects.

The higher tax rates coincided with the greatest expansion of American wealth. They are not the huge drag on the economy at the top end that some would have you believe.

Take away Social Security and you will have old people starving in the streets. Take away Medicare and you will have old people maimed, hurt and dying.

Lets trim the Military budget....by half.....the cost to maintain the empire is to great.
