Wow....they're talking about Blythe....I used to work for Blythe when I was at JPMorgan in the early to mid 2000's. She's a bit younger than me...38 or 39, a fast riser. Wondered , even though she was married if she slept her way to the top. But not sure. She certainly is a looker but extremely smart. When i was there, she was the head of the Credit Portfolio globally. I moved on to Global Credit Risk Management and she got tapped by the former head Bill Harrison to run another group.
When Dimon walked into town after Bill's retirement he then took her under his wing made her CFO until they could find a good position for her. She's just the messenger.....she was tapped to run things they way they were....this is not her fault....this is all DIMON who will likely sell her. But I don't even think that will happen.....
I have interestingly lived through some historical moments on wallstreet....most of my bosses from Merrill Lynch were in Liar's Poker (a bible for newbies graduating to make it in Fixed Income).....but it's funny, it was my morality that moved me off the front office to run other groups. It just didn't feel right nor was it sound business to make money out of almost nothing.....the manipulative process in which they squeeze out every dollar from any company that becomes their client - THAT was a conflict of interest. The conversations among banking was just like a "boiler room". However, they all felt that they were doing the right thing by helping the client , "shore up" their balance sheet.
Ford Motor was a great example of a failed entity, but it was JPM's top client because they had a massive line of credit and ridiculous swaps and other derivatives with JPM. And yet they as a single entity, ie JPMorgan, didn't know the client. Each group ie, credit vs fixed income vs equities only knew of their slice of the client and werent aware of what was going on in the other, usually a "chinese" wall.....which also seemed unreal. My job was eventually to unify the client view. Thankfully I got out.....
