I like the fancy footwork when someone tries to explain why hyperinflation is preferred to deflation, but imo, the real reason is control, or loss of control, of the currency levels.
With hyper-inflation, the flow of the money into the system, on a daily basis, is still under government control.
However, in a deflationary system, the removal of monies from the system, on a daily basis, depends entirely on how individuals spend.
I may be wrong, but deflation would be easier to survive than hyperinflation (unless you have gold and/or silver in some form).
