There was a large deposit of gold into the customer inventory of 64Kozs, which curiously is identical to the withdrawal yesterday. The show stopper is that 0.83Mozs of silver were withdrawn from the customer inventory. In addition there was an “internal adjustment” that removed 0.45Mozs of silver from the dealer inventory. What the heck is that? I have never seen this before. Typically the internal adjustments are just re-categorizing inventory as either eligible or registered and involves moving pallets of metal from one side of the warehouse to the other. How can you have an internal adjustment that just removes half a million ozs from the inventory? It gives a nice warm fuzzy feeling about the veracity of the warehouse inventory data, doesn’t it? This bizarre piece of book keeping occurred at the ScotiaMocatta warehouse.

There were 49 delivery notices issued in the AUG gold contract. The AUG gold delivery notice total for the month is 4,914 notices or 491,400 ozs. JPM issued 0 and stopped 9, HSBC issued 0 and stopped 40, while BNS issued 22 and stopped none.

There was 1 delivery notice issued in the AUG silver contract. The total delivery notices for the month in silver stand at 6 or 30,000 ozs.

The Open Interest in the AUG gold contract stands at 2,541. Together with the delivery notices issued the potential total amount standing for delivery in AUG could be 745Kozs or 25% of the dealer inventory.
