I am a licensed structural engineer. At the request of about 20 of my contractor clients, I called my city council woman for my district and complained to her assistant that the city inspection department was wasting taxpayer money in order to prevent layoffs. Since I was not important enough, I did not talk with the council woman. After I talked with the assistant, she called the city permit office to investgate my complaint. About 30 minutes later, she phoned me back and basically called me a liar. Ever since then, my drawings and reputation have been unfairly rejected and slandered by the permit office.
