My opinion of Canadian media is that they are fairly independent, at least more so than most from USA. ( I do have occasions to watch CNN & Fox.)

The biggest one, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation I believe is still dependent on financing from the federal government and I notice that lately they have been less critical of government compared to decades ago.
