BP are sinking two additional bore holes at the moment aiming at an 18" target, to take the pressure off, those should be complete in August.

However another Russian report is that the seabed in the area is already breaking up, (oil seeping from other bore holes) and the Russians (who often use nukes to create an explosion to close a problematic gas bore hole) are recommending the same to avoid a catastrophe
