""Total nonfarm payroll employment grew by 431,000 in May, reflecting the hiring of 411,000 temporary employees to work on Census 2010, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Private-sector em- ployment changed little (+41,000). Manufacturing, temporary help ser- vices, and mining added jobs, while construction employment declined. The unemployment rate edged down to 9.7 percent."

It seems to me that we have seen these same jobs counted over and over! They were first counted when they put thousands in a government class training people to count. Those jobs never showed up in unemployment numbers, but here they are again keeping the employment fiction going one more month. The crisis in the gulf will add to real unemployment and somehow it will be burried in the stats.
