I just got off of an extraordinary, hour long conference call that CFTC Commissioner Bart Chilton held for some press and people who have contacted him this past year. Most of the follow-up questions were good ones, with a focus on the need to crack down on "exemptions" when it comes limit positions.
There probably will be some sort of press release or coverage of this call, but of note was Bart’s commentary about value regulations concerning…
*Position limits
*Market manipulation
*The massive Over The Counter market.’
He is truly unique!
From GATA’s Chris Powell to Bart:
Dear Commissioner:
I greatly appreciate the remarks you made in your conference call today about improving market regulation -- and, just as much, your eagerness to engage with the public and push the commission toward being more responsive. I've been in the news business for more than 40 years and it's impossible not to get cynical about the government, so it's kind of stirring to run into somebody who's really trying to make things better. Thanks so much and good luck.
