Those who believe this confounding rally in the Dollar will keep going need to put down the weed and suck on the pipe of really awful EMPLOYMENT stats - ie figures that are much harder to fudge and a lot closer to the truth of an economy in shambles and only getting worse with each passing day. Small wonder noone talks about the employment rate on spin tv. I just tune out the silly media pompoms, keep my eye on the big picture (hope no trademark violation pic) and hold onto my insurance as the true measure of the health of the US economy - the employment rate - is quickly sinking into the abyss.

Revised figures this morning adds another 930,000 poor souls to the unemployment roster and this means the current ER is closer to 55%! The media cheerleaders will definitely have their work cut out for them later this year when the ER hits 50%. How does one hide half the US out of work and spin that figure into something Dollar positive? Fortunately the media has a short attention span so sooner or later reporters will tire covering the EU PIIGS and refocus on the next big story - bankrupt states and munis, courtesy the next wave of Prime & Alt-A mortgage resets. Watch them hitch a ride with screaming Captain Bernanke aboard the little red nosediving bi-plane (remember Sinclair's funny cartoon with him and Paulson?)
