Good thoughts Terry. If you don't mind a comment or two:

I transfered a good amount of my IRA to an IRA that holds physical back when silver was under 6 and gold somewhere around $400. It whethered the 08 storm very well. Outside the IRA, physical in a safe depositie box is a comforting feeling... if you trust the box management.

Tax planning is a must for this kind of transfer. You may want to look up your marginal tax rate. A good approach is to pulll out enough fiat from your IRA to the extent that you do not pop into the next higher marginal rate.

Another thought (which I figure you already know) is that with the current adiinstration policies the future tax rates are going nowhere but UP despite all the promices. Even if the rates do not go up, the massive pumping of the $ supply will assure inflation is with us (if not hyper inflation) for quite a while. This would increase the amount of $s per oz as you with draw sending you into higher tax brackets in the future.

I have thought about taking my entire IRA out all at once. I can think of a quite a few considerations to do or not do such a thing. You mentioned the IRA grabbing by this leftist administration which is one. The constant tax implications of buy/sell activity, record keeping, storage cost/risk, and that physical is taxed at a higher rate than paper argues against it. (Ouch.) There are other considerations are probably not to likely but are considerations to some.

Making a large purchase would probally leave a big trail in today's big brother environment. Would the government dare confiscate? Could physical possibly become a totally government controlled market? (Already starting is some nations.) Could be move into a share price explosive environment thereby missing opportunity?

Very interesting dilema. I have about 10 spreadsheets I have done trying to figure out the financial implications. I still just do a kind of middle ground, but haven't bought physical at the current prices but have bought a lot of stock. Couldn't begin to say what I do is because of solid logic. The varriables are too much for this one to figger out!

Good luck!

Jack
