Hi Scruffy!
I do not see any insider buying in that data you presented. I see two small insider sell orders but no buys at all. The granting of options is a perk to management, and it is not an indication of any bullish attitude whatsoever on the part of insiders, although bullish they may be. When insiders put their money where their interests lie and actually buy stock in the market, then I am more convinced. When they exercise options and hold that paper instead of dumping it right back in the market, then I am convinced.
Further, when we have a stock offering by the company that is not immediately offset by an increase in shorting as participants lock in their discount prices, then I will be more convinced.
None of the above has come to pass for a long time. The only bullish buying with confidence seems to be coming from the smaller retail specs on this board - that means you and me. I think 2010 is going to be the year that is make-or-break for a lot of juniors. I think the metals are going to move to higher highs, and the window will be open for emerging producers like ECU to finally achieve profitable ops and build equity. I think the company is capable of moving to the next level. I have confidence in management to turn all of the potential into real results that warrant a higher share price. If this opportunity is lost this year, then perhaps I will have to look elsewhere. IF they can establish real growth and create shareholder value, then we are vindicated for our patience and courage to stay on board. It is that simple, IMO.
cheers!
