"How could the richest country in the world wait so long to give its entire population medical coverage?"
I don't know anyone who would not like for all to have health coverage. The problem is this bill. The idea that it only costs 2.5 Trillion in its first 10 years of coverage is just moronic. The idea that it will save money is a lie for the gullible. The massive amount of new "pannels" Agencies" "Review Groups" and the decription of how they were to allocate $ and how decisions will be made for ALL allowable treatment under the new government controlled guidelines is mind boggleing in that last bill that was posted for public consumption.
Cutting reembursement to doctors and hospitals for medicade and under new guidelines for healthcare is a way to assure doctors will no longer practice of will only take private clients not the newly insured. What was referred to as death pannels are real but not by that name. They are described as review pannels that will decide how to allocate resourcess in times of shortage. Well if medicare is WAY (Hundreds of Bils $ ) over budget and they are going to remove hundreds of bils $ from medicare there will bea shortage of $s. We already have a 15% shortage of doctors according to the ama.
Do you really trust this government to make health decisions for your family? They will be what I will call health care dictators. They will dole out new regulations, guidelines under which they will reemburse "covered" treatments. They will dictate to employers all issues of health care. They will tax everyone forever to pay for this. In Europe they are already claiming that they cannot continue to pay for universal health care.
It is not health care that I persoanlly object to. I object to the massive waste, mismanagement, bloated costs of government oversight, the typical politically motivated lobyist pandering bought off politicians. What do they currently do at the quality that you expect for health care? Nothing in my opinion. I think they do a pretty goood job in the post office, but I don't think they have ever in my life made a program on budget. DOD cannot ballance any year's budget since it was mandated that all departments must report audited budgets. They are reported to have $ Tril mising and/or unaccounted for.
The amount of "bribes" to senators to get their vote is nothing but an added cost heaped on taxpayers and is disgusting. That they would offer a bribe at all should be enough to recall the senators.
Health care can be imporved many ways, very few are reflected in this bill.
