When the pollutants in the atmosphere become an obvious and overwhelming public health problem, we'll finally get to some common ground. I think it will be hard to deny as in the long cigarette smoking/cancer hassle. Why it's not in the forefront now is a mystery to me.
The smog in so many Chinese and other world cities with the increasing lung problems is obvious. Same in several US cities. I lived many years in Manhattan, and I can't count the many times, especially during the summer months, that the pollution from the buses, cabs, cars and trucks added to the pollutants blowing over the city from the refineries and chemical factories across the Hudson in New Jersey was so thick that I couldn't see more that two blocks down the street. It stuck to you like a thin paste. It affected and still affects a lot of people.
My wife developed respiratory problems to the point we had to move out of the city for fresher air and fortunately the quick end to the problem. Seems to me when enough people start gasping, corporate interests will have to take a back seat to more pressing concerns.
