I agree with leaving the topic... but obviously not with the quotes. For one I have very little if any respect for Margaret Thatcher or for the effect she had on the UK (god look at the privitised train system... disaster, even a deadly disaster for some poor souls).

I believe that industrialized nations have benefitted greatly from rampant environmental damage of the past and have a moral obligation to assist developing nations in limiting their impact as they strive to improve the lives of their people. China is the worlds biggest CO2 producer (and a big GDP nation) and is in favor of taking drastic action, I think leadership from the US is a requirement... heck they have no problem spending 100 billion on a useless and pointless troop increase in Afghanistan.

The drop in CO2 emissions can largely be attributed to the economy, oil/gas prices and government action to reduce CO2 (california emissions controls for example) not corporations doing good cause it's in everyones interest... show me an example of that!

Personally I would happily contribute 1% of my personal economic wealth if it means we can tackle a major issue like this with a sense of global co-operation... what we need is more global thinking and less nationalistic/patriotic posturing. That's not socialism, that's humanism.

Unfortunately as I approach 40 I guess I will do so with no brain as I doubt I will change my position towards my fellow human beings regardless of personal wealth or age. I'm guessing my rapidly dropping personal rating is an indication that many board members disagree with my politics - that's too bad as it should be about quality not position.
