Golden Minerals is a junior silver producer with a strong growth profile, listed on both the NYSE Amex and TSX.
"My view is that there is a very significant high grade gold discovery to be made at depth. This latest information and initial drilling into the skarns is show increasing gold grades that already would be very attractive gold grades for most gold miners but if the grades continue to increase with depth to the mineralization source then the potential exists for a large deposit of unusually high gold grades."
Comment:
Last year at this time, the markets fell into the abyss and consequently ECU management was forced to alter their strategy by transitioning from an exploration company into modest production to stave off further financing during an extremely challenging financial environment. They reacquired a mill from Helca for a bargain price, brought it back into production and now appear to be making a profit from their milling operations in only a few short months.
I think all of the challenges over the past year have altered our notion of what determines a successful junior precious metal company. The production is great, yet the real reason I have held onto ECU and continued to accumulate is for the exact reason Adrinan states above....the potential for a major discovery. Isn't that what we all bought into juniors for in the first place?
Ultimately, when this all plays out and people realize the true value of gold and silver, that is where the real value will be determined, not in the size of the current production, but in the size of the underground metal value. That is where the real money will be made in my opinion.
So although the focus has been on production over the past year (and justifiably so) let's not forget the real reason people invest in juniors...the potential for a world class discovery. Now that ECU has successfully rectified their cash flow situation, it is time to point those drills down below level 19 and knock some cheese holes into that holy grail.
Exciting times indeed.
