Hi Pic, definitely a good rant. Suicides may not be the only events affecting executives these days as highlighted below. With ineffective regulators and government officials, the sheople are now adopting a more direct approach to correcting the root cause of a suspected fraud.

Financial Advisor Shot Execution Style

The Nassau Guardian

April 23, 2009

By KRYSTEL ROLLE, Guardian Staff Reporter

A foreign-born financial advisor was in critical condition last night after he was shot execution style in the parking lot of Britannia Investment Group on West Bay Street near Gambier Village yesterday morning.

Police said Hywel Jones, president of the investment company who is reportedly in his late 50s, was shot in the head twice around 9:30 a.m. by an unknown gunman who was waiting for him to show up to work.

"This man who did the shooting was hanging out in the area of West Bay Street and Gambier Village," said Assistant Superintendent Leon Bethel, who heads the homicide division of the Central Detective Unit.

"He was here for a while and when [Jones] pulled up, he approached him and fired shots."

The gunman was reportedly waiting on the outside of an unused building next to the investment company.

When The Nassau Guardian arrived on the scene around 11a.m., there was blood and blood-soaked towels on the ground.

Eyewitnesses said the gunman shot Jones in the back of his head as soon as he got out of his car. The assailant then reportedly fled while changing his clothes and rode off on a motorcycle that was parked several feet away from the company.

"This was not a random thing. Someone had to have given some thought to this," said an eyewitnesses, who did not want to be named.

Up to press time last night, Jones was in an unresponsive state after undergoing surgery, according to police.

Bethel said police were considering whether officers should be stationed outside Jones' hospital room for his protection.

He added that an island-wide search was being conducted for the gunman, who was described as a slim, dark male.

Officers reportedly caught a glimpse of him yesterday, but were unsuccessful in catching him.

Bethel asked for anyone with information regarding the case to contact the police.

Friends of Jones described him as an outgoing person who was very well liked. Britannia staff members were reportedly shaken up after the incident.

Jones, who was born in North Wales, worked in the financial services sector in the U.K., Jamaica and now The Bahamas.

He reportedly established Britannia in 1996. He is a former director of both The Bankers Association of The Bahamas and The Bahamas Institute of Bankers.

Jones, a permanent resident of The Bahamas, is a former partner of Lester Turnquest, a former MP and currently the managing director of the Bonnycord Group, a financial services firm. Since Turnquest broke away from the Britannia Group in 2006, he, Jones and others have been embroiled in a civil suit.
